2025 Mount Shasta Climbing & Backcountry Skiing & Splitboaridng Dates Posted!

Our 2025 Mount Shasta trips are posted and ready to book! To support our community, we’ve decided to follow suite with all private programming we offer and used a tiered scale for Mount Shasta trips as well. We hope this helps offset some of the economic/financial constraints our community is facing and look forward to another great season on Shasta with all of our guests!

Standing tall and proud at a height of 14,179’ feet, Mount Shasta is the 5th tallest peak in California, and one of twelve coveted 14er’s with a prominence over 300’ feet. Residing at the southern tip of the volcanic Cascade Range, Mount Shasta is in a league all on her own and plays host to some of the finest mountaineering objectives our state has to offer including classic routes such as Avalanche Gulch (one of the 50 classic ski descents), the West Face and Casaval Ridge. Mount Shasta will challenge your physical and mental capabilities and is the perfect objective for aspiring mountaineers looking to up their game and learn from our professionally trained, AMGA Mount Shasta Guides.

We offer 2 and 3 day mountaineering programs as listed below to accommodate everyone’s abilities and desires. Whether you’re looking for a summit bid via our classic 3 Day Mountaineering Program or looking to go alpine style via our 2 Day Light and Fast Mountaineering Program, we’ve got something for everyone. Click the button below to learn more about our 2 and 3 day options as well as the equipment needed for your climb and what’s included in the cost of your trip.

GSG Alpine Guide Training

Keeping the GSG fam sharp! Alpine skills training days on the Eastside with IFMGA guide Ryan Huetter. Mentoring is a big part of the equation when it comes to staying sharp and continued education outside of the regularly schedule AMGA programs which are currently on hold. GSG Guides Josh Reinig and Greg Davis spent 2 days in the alpine where they were able to work on their alpine techniques and systems while being observed by fellow IFMGA Guide Ryan Huetter. Big thanks to Ryan for helping facilitate this mentorship program and to GSG Guides Josh and Greg for the willingness to expand their knowledge and participate in the days out.

AMGA Annual Meeting // 40th Celebration

What an incredible last few days at the annual AMGA meeting in Salt Lake City. Celebrating their 40th anniversary, the AMGA went above and beyond past events and delivered an excellent meeting. From indoor and outdoor technical clinics hosted by Petzl, classroom sessions with presentations hosting a variety of topics related to the guide service industry, to entertaining after parties at the Black Diamond headquarters and the Union event center where American Mountain Guides were pinned, the meeting had it all! Big thanks to the AMGA and it’s Instructor Team for another outstanding meeting, to their partners Petzl and Black Diamond for hosting our community and to the guides who were pinned last night, well done! It’s reassuring to see the support behind this industry and the direction it is headed. Looking forward to another great year in the field and to the 41st meeting next October! .
