Ladies Weekend Out San Diego

An ALL Ladies weekend of climbing is returning to San Diego this Spring!

Golden State Guiding and our good friends Tera Kaia and Saint Archer Brewery are throwing another awesome Ladies Weekend Out event in San Diego, April 4th and 5th! Fifteen lucky ladies will have the opportunity to climb some of San Diego’s most coveted rock climbing crags with our AMGA certified guides. Both days will be packed with fun climbing for all abilities, technical clinics introducing you to outdoor climbing, camaraderie, community and fun for all!

Our Ladies Weekend Out events are quickly becoming the go-to, all female climbing events to attend! The smaller group size sets the stage for a more intimate weekend where participants really get to know one-another and receive more personalized instruction. Red Rock Roundup Fall Registration is Open!

Golden State Guiding is excited to announce registration is officially open for our Fall installment of Red Rock Roundup in beautiful Red Rock Canyon!

Come join us for an unforgettable weekend of climbing in beautiful Red Rock Canyon, conveniently located just 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Red Rock plays host to some of the worlds best sandstone sport climbing crags, big wall routes and bouldering in the Western United States. Whether you’re new to climbing, an avid sport or trad climber or simply looking to get out for a weekend and meet fun, likeminded people, then this event is for you!

Throughout the weekend you’ll have the pleasure of climbing world class sandstone in a beautiful landscape, the option to choose either our 2 or 3 day sport climbing or multi pitch climbing package, and you’ll get to enjoy 2 or 3 nights under the stars in Red Rock Campground just 10 minutes from many of the popular climbing destinations.

If you’ve ever experienced an event with us you know the good time you’re in for and if you haven’t then now’s your chance to come hang with some of the raddest people in our community! Ladies Weekend Out // Spring 2019

Well another amazing weekend of climbing with a great group of Ladies went down for our Ladies Weekend Out, 2019 Spring event in San Diego! It was our largest group of Ladies to date for an LWO event at 15! Throughout the weekend all participants were taught the necessary skills on how to climb outdoors on their own including anchor building, rappelling, and gear placements, and of course, lots of climbing ensued! Saturday night found us at Saint Archer Brewery where the Ladies indulged in some tasty, local craft beer, delicious dessert provide by Riot Cake Co. and they finished off with a good ol’ fashioned brewery tour! Big thanks to all the Ladies that came out for the weekend, it was a pleasure having you all attend our event! BBQ's x BELAY's x BEER'S // Event #2 Joshua Tree National Park

Well that officially wraps up our 2nd annual BBQ’s x BELAY’s BEER’s events in Joshua Tree, NP! We had another stellar weekend of climbing and great weather, awesome participants and an all around good time! 3rd Annual American Alpine Club Holiday Party

Mark it on your calendar San Diego climbers! The American Alpine Clubs San Diego Chapter is throwing their 3rd annual Holiday party on Thursday, November 29th from 6-9 pm at Helix Brewing. Presentations will be given by local climbers David Rozul and Amy Amodio, tasty food will be available, a raffle will go down and good beer will be drank! Come support the local AAC chapter and have a good time while doing it! Hope to see everyone out there!

2nd Annual BBQ's x BELAY's x BEER's // Registration Open

Registration is officially open for our 2nd Annual BBQ’s x BELAY’s x BEER’s events in Joshua Tree, NP! Come climb with our professionally trained AMGA guides as we take you out to some of our favorite crags in Joshua Tree! GSG Ambassador Jordan Cannon Slideshow

GSG Ambassador & Guide Jordan Cannon Slideshow

Golden State Guiding is excited to announce GSG Ambassador & Guide Jordan Cannon will be presenting a slideshow at Vertical Hold Climbing Gym San Diego on July 2nd, 2018 at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:00 pm). Come hear Jordan speak to adventure, traveling, mentor-ship, training, living simply and dreaming BIG! Free admission for the slideshow, $10 discounted day pass for any non Vertical Hold member wanting to climb afterwards with Jordan. All proceeds go to our local climbing organizations American Alpine Club - San Diego Chapter and Allied Climbers of San Diego. Looking forward to a fun evening! 

GSG Apprentice Guide Ash Gambhir & Team Climb Liberty Ridge

Apparently Liberty Ridge is the go-to route this season for GSG Guides. Apprentice Guide @verticalnomad just topped out Mt. Rainier via the famous Liberty Ridge route last week. This is our second Guide in two weeks to ascend the route. Ash was awarded the American Alpine Clubs “Live Your Dream” grant earlier this year and Liberty Ridge was the coveted route of choice. Congratulations Ash and the rest of your team! Stoked everyone made a safe and successful ascent! 

Jonathan Wachtel Joins GSG Ambassador Family

Golden State Guiding is proud to announce the latest addition to the GSG Ambassador Family, Jonathan Wachtel. Jonathan joins the GSG family with a wealth of knowledge regarding climbing and is highly respected throughout the climbing community. Co-founder of the San Diego Chapter's American Alpine Club, Jonathan has deeply rooted himself within the community helping grow this actively we love so much. Jonathan holds an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor certification, is a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy and as of more recent a new dad! Please join us in welcoming Jonathan to the GSG Family!

Ladies Weekend Out // Spring 2018 Recap

Well the first ever Ladies Weekend Out event with Golden State Guiding is in the bag and what a success it was! We were blessed with an amazing group of talented women who came to the event ready to climb, learn and have a great time! Education was at the forefront of the weekend and all of our Ladies soaked up the knowledge our certified AMGA guides had to offer. Sport anchors were built, rappelling lessons facilitated, gear placement and anchor demonstrations provided and of course the ever so popular tape gloves were put into action because our Ladies got on some crack! The #Sladies were out in full force this weekend and really took home some great memories! Big thanks to everyone who came out for the first ever Ladies Weekend Out event with Golden State Guiding! It was an amazing event and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! 

A special thanks goes out to GSG's head Guide for the weekend Lauren Breitenbachfor facilitating an amazing event. Big thanks to GSG Guide Tyler Dandurandfor helping out throughout the weekend and to GSG's newest apprentice/ SPI Aspirant Sarah Barille for keeping the girls safe and running her own lessons with the participants. Also, a large shoutout goes out to Oliver Dela Cruz for filming the entire weekend and to Margaret Chiu, Vertical Hold Instructor, for working with the Ladies on technique and movement both days, we couldn't have done it without any of these talented individuals. 

And last but not least, a HUGE thanks to all our partners who supported this event, Aret Basewear, Saint Archer, Riot Cake Co., Vertical Hold Climbing Gym, Evolv, Shelta Hats, American Alpine Club, and prAna. The girls were given their goody bags at our party at Saint Archer Brewery Saturday night and they were  beyond stoked to say the least, thanks for your support!

Ladies Weekend Out // April 7th - 8th

Golden State Guiding has teamed up with Aret Basewear and Saint Archer Brewery for another fun weekend of climbing at our local crags! Ladies Weekend Out will be the weekend of April 7th and 8th at our local climbing spots, Mission Gorge and Mt. Woodson. Saturday night we'll have a party at Saint Archer Brewery where we'll be playing climbing movies, enjoying some tasty craft beers and indulging in some tasty deserts from Riot Cake Co.! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend to kick off BBQ's x BELAY's x BEER's! Stellar climbing, perfect temps and a great group! Gym to Crag with the American Alpine Club & Golden State Guiding

Great day out at Descanso guest guiding with the @sandiegochapter_aac. Students today were enrolled in the Gym 2 Crag program where they learned how to clean an anchor and rappel as well as build top rope anchors. Crag etiquette was discussed which involved "leave no trace" discussions and overall common cutesy. High stoke levels out there today, great job American Alpine Club!
