Avalanche Gulch is the most sought after route up Mount Shasta and see’s hundred’s of summits per year during the climbing season which typically begins late April and runs through the end August depending on the snowpack for the season. Standing tall at 14,179’ feet, Mount Shasta, or better known by the indigenous people of the land, Waka-nunee-Tuki-wuki; or Úytaahkoo, is the 5th tallest peak in California and one of the coveted fourteen-thousand foot peaks in the state. We offer a 3 Day Mountaineering or Ski and Splitboard Program for those looking to spend more time on the mountain and take a modest approach up Avalanche Gulch or we offer a 2 day Light and Fast Alpine Climbing Program and 2 day Ski/ Splitboard Program up Avalanche Gulch for those in peak physical shape looking to push their limits or sample the terrain on their skis or splitboard. Mount Shasta and Avalanche Gulch also plays host to one one of 50 Classic Ski Descents of North America, with a 7,000’ descent on a good snow year!   • We can provide ice axe, harness, helmet, and avalanche equipment when necessary, for any guests looking to climb or ski/ splitboard Avalanche Gulch.
