The third and final level of our Sierra Splitboard Program will be an AIARE Level 1 , splitboard only, avalanche course that we will facilitate in the Mammoth Lakes region. Understanding your splitboarding equipment and the functionality of it all is important but the real skill set that must be developed for longevity in the backcountry is ones avalanche training. Being trained and capable to identify potential avalanche hazards in various types of terrain and possessing the tools to facilitate a rescue in the event of an avalanche are key skills every splitboarder should possess. You will receive an AIARE Level 1 certificate upon completion of your avalanche course.
